Oak trees can live for more than 200 years. Acorns can start being produced from when the tree is around 20 years old. Only 1 in 10,000 acorns grows into an oak tree. The rest are destroyed by insects, fungi or eaten by animals.In this way the Oak tree is host to 100's of animals.
Oak wood is very strong and resilient it also has a beautiful grain.
Mythology:
Oak of the Sun used in celtic mythology to start fire. In Celtic mythology, it is the tree of doors, believed to be a gateway between worlds, or a place where portals could be erected.
Oak is used for tanning and drying skins.
Medicinal:
Oak has many medicinal uses.
